Andrea Bowers

Andrea Bowers was born in Wilmington, Ohio, in 1965, and received a BFA from Bowling Green State University, as well as an MFA from California Institute of the Arts.  Bowers’ varied practice – including painting, photography, installation, collage, and video – focuses on issues of contemporary politics, gender, and identity, as well as addressing the implications of an extremely globalized existence. Her work has been shown at Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects; Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York; Art 32 Basel, Switzerland; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. It is held in the collections of institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Smithsonian Institution Hishhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden; and The Museum Abteiberg, Moenchengladbach, Germany.
