Edgar Arceneaux was born in Los Angeles in 1972, and holds a BFA from the Art Center College of Design, as well as an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.  His body of work – its elements of painting, drawing, installation and film – traverses the gaps and overlays of existing systems and mythologies, bringing their structures and implications into sharp relief. Edgar has exhibited at Susan Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; his work is held in the collections of the Walker Art Center, the New York Public Library, and the Carnegie Museum of Art, among others.
