Jonas Wood was born in Boston in 1977. He earned a BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, New York, and an MFA from University of Washington. In a painting practice that revels in the transversal space it creates between the poles of abstraction and representation, Wood takes on plants, photographs, interiors, still lifes. Wood’s work has been exhibited at MinMin Gallery, Tokyo; Black Dragon Society, Los Angeles; White Columns, New York; Saatchi Gallery, London and elsewhere. It is held in the collections of the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, among others.
