Pae White was born in Pasadena, California, in 1963. She earned a BA from Scripps College, Claremont, California, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and graduated with an MFA from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, in 1991. In the tapestry of White’s practice – sculptural, installation, or otherwise – everyday materials gain the ability to struggle and speak with one another – and with us. Her work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennial; Whitney Biennial 2010; greengrassi, London; Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington DC; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. White’s work is also held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Modern, London; The Art Institute of Chicago; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, Musée de Chamarande, France, and others..
